WE ARE
Dr
Allan Oliver is a Victoria Dentist who has been involved in Dental
Appliance Therapy for snoring and sleep apnea since 1995. In 1999 he became
a Credentialed Member of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, a worldwide
group of dedicated professionals whose aim is to forge strong working
relationships between dentists and other qualified sleep professionals.
He has used several Mandibular Advancement Appliances of the last seven
years, including the Silencer and the Klearway. He currently
favours the Thornton Adjustable Positioner (T.A.P.) because of its user
friendliness and ability to be adjusted by the bed partner while
the patient is asleep.
His main interest within Vancouver Island Sleep Associates is in treating
people with troublesome snoring and mild to moderate sleep apnea. He is
also currently involved with his associate, Thom Russell in the development
of a Dental Arch Supported CPAP interface, which will render the mask
and headgear a thing of the past. Watch this site for further developments! |

Thom
Russell, RRT(Adv); RPSGT, Attended the University of Victoria and then Respiratory
Therapy School in Calgary. For
nearly 10 years he worked at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta as
a Registered Respiratory Therapist doing general duty, four years Supervisor Adult Critical Care / Blood Gas Laboratories and one year Clinical Instructor.
In
the fall of 1989 he returned to Victoria and was charged with the task
of setting up the local Sleep Laboratory. Ultimately, he became a Registered Polysomnographic
Technologist and is current Supervisor of the Sleep Lab.
In
1998 he formed his own company, Island Sleep Health Services Inc. The
mission is to facilitate optimum treatment for breathing disorders of sleep. A secondary
involvement is utilizing state-of -the-art unattended diagnostic
equipment and working closely with the local Sleep Physicians. |
